Glen Wade Thompson Gets Nine Months In A Yukon Jail And Must Make Restitution Of The Money He Scammed From Whitehorse Residents

An article by Justine Davidson published in the Whitehorse Daily Star newspaper on Friday September 17th titled 'Scammer must make restitution, serve time' reports that the ticket scammer Wade Thompson was sentenced to nine months in jail and pay back the money that he defrauded from several Whitehorse residents with his typical ticket scam.

Here are some pertinent snippets from the article -

"His alleged victims in other parts of the country, however, aren’t likely to see any of their money."

That's right folks Wade Thompson was charged only with the frauds that he committed in Whitehorse Yukon and was not charged with any of his previous ticket scams that took place across Canada from the Maritimes to Vancouver B.C.

Wade Thompson reportedly defrauded three Whitehorse residents in his Yukon ticket scamming activities and all of these frauds were under $500. The article reports that Wade Thompson's scam was revealed when one of his "marks" aka *victims* discovered this blog but does not mention the fact that the photo of Wade Thompson that one of his previous victims provided to this blog was downloaded by the R.C.M.P. a day or two before his arrest in Whitehorse and presumably helped the Mounties to get their man. . .

The article says - "The site is devoted entirely to one man’s quest to discredit Thompson."

I would say that this blog was, is, and will continue to be. . . devoted to my attempts to ensure that Wade Thompson's ticket scamming days are brought to an end, along with any other criminal activity that he may be involved in. This blog was created to help Wade's potential or actual victims who become suspicious and Google Wade Thompson become aware of his criminal acts and take appropriate action to protect themselves and have Wade Thompson arrested and prosecuted. I would say that this blog served its purpose very well in light of Wade Thomnpson's arrest by the R.C.M.P. in Whitehorse this spring. . .

The article reports some Wade's sister-in-law Susan Thompson's comments that were posted to this blog and bear repeating here -

“He is a sociopathic scam artist and has been for 24 years,” the person identified as Susan Thompson writes.

“We cut all ties to him, after he scammed us when we were broke newlyweds with a six-month-old baby. And I’d testify to that.”

Based on my own personal experience of Wade I would have to agree with his sister-in-law's assessment of Wade as a "sociopathic scam artist". Wade Thompson behaved in an utterly conscienceless manner not only in terms of his attempts to scam me and other people in Montreal but in other ways as well. I will never forget him laughing and making extremely callous and tasteless comments as he watched a documentary television program about the September 11th, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York. He laughed uproariously when the documentary showed people jumping from the buildings and made extremely insensitive comments about the jumpers.

"Lilles alluded to charges in other jurisdictions, but Thompson’s lawyer told the Star that no charges or warrants from other parts of the country were dealt with during Thompson’s Yukon hearing."

So, while it is very clear that judge Lilles was well aware of the charges against Wade Thompson in other Canadian jurisdictions, it seems that not only were these other criminal charges pending agaist Wade Thompson not dealt with during the Yukon trial but that they probably will not be "dealt with" following Wade's conviction in Whitehorse either.

The articel also makes it clear that Judge Lille was quite skeptical about reports of Wade Thompson's "good behavior" while in jail in Whitehorse for the last six months or so -

“But I want to make it very clear I do not view these reports as evidence that Mr. Thompson has reformed. ... I note, merely as an aside, that Mr. Thompson is a salesman and salesmen can be very convincing, and sometimes they can also be sincere.”

I personally doubt that Wade Thompson has reformed as well and predict that Wade will be attempting to defraud people again in the not so distant future if circumstances allow him to. . .

The article reports that - "In addition to his nine-month sentence (of which he has served six months), Thompson is barred from going to any of his victims’ workplaces. He must pay back the money he took within six months of his release, and serve 16 months’ probation, during which he must tell his probation officer of his whereabouts if he leaves the territory."

I would expect that Wade will not be staying in the Yukon for very long following his release from jail.

At the conclusion of Wade Thompson's trial Judge Lilles wisely said -

“The future is not predictable, but I have to tell you that, in my experience, the best indicator of future behaviour, unfortunately, is past behaviour. That does not bode well for you unless you take some concerted steps to change what you have been doing.”

I couldn't agree more.

Anyone wanting to comment on the article or write a letter to the editor of the Yukon Daily Star should do so soon.

I intend to do both myself.

The Whitehorse Daily Star Report On The Arrest Of Ticket Scammer And All Round "Snake" Wade Thompson On St. Patrick's Day

The Justice Reporter of the Whitehorse Daily Star Justine Davidson has published a news story about Wade Thompson's arrest titled 'Media alert helped round up suspect'. I bet Wade's face was "wearing the green" when the Whitehorse Mounties got their "snake", I mean man. :-) This blog, and some of the comments made on it, are quoted in the story. It is possible to submit comments to the online version of the article so I would encourage Wade's victims to do so. You can also write a good old-fashioned letter to the editor and send it by email to -

Here is the comment that I just submitted to Justine Davidson's story about Wade Thompson's arrest on St. Patrick's Day -

Thank you for mentioning my 'Who is Wade Thompson Scamming Now?' in this news report on the St. Patrick's Day arrest of Wade Thompson aka Glen Thompson on fraud charges. Not only did the Mounties get their man, as they reputedly always do. . . but some might say they even took care of a "snake" on St. Patrick's Day. :-)

It seems that the photograph of Wade Thompson that I posted to the blog on March 4th (after it was kindly supplied to me by one of Wade's victims) may have been helpful to the RCMP. My web stats show that someone from the RCMP downloaded the photo from the WIWTSN? blog on Monday March 15th. Maybe other blogs can help to catch criminals in a similar manner.

I have made a link to the Yukon Justice Department's Victim Impact Statement form on the WIWTSN? blog so that Wade Thompson's victims may use it if they choose to. If the Whitehorse Daily Star could publish the URL of that form and the address to which any Victim Impact Statements should be sent to that would be a public service to people across Canada, and indeed across the Atlantic Ocean judging from my web stats. . . It seems that Wade Thompson "worked" the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver and scammed some people from Europe.

Here is the URL for the form -

Now all victims need to know is where to send it to. I am confident that there a number of victims who have a thing or two to say about Wade Thompson.

Wade really is a piece of work judging from what I saw of him. He apparently scammed his own mother while in Montreal and I personally witnessed the aftermath of him scamming a group teenage girls staying in a Montreal youth hostel out of about $50 for "taxi fare" about an hour or two after I had given him $60 for "taxi fare".

It occurs to me now that Wade Thompson isn't scamming anyone at the moment, unless of course he is trying his luck at scamming the Whitehorse RCMP detachment. . .

The Mounties Got Their Man! Assuming That Wade Thompson aka Glen Thompson Can Be Properly Described As A Man. . .

Yes that's right folks. I have been very reliably informed that Wade Thompson aka Glen Thompson the ticket scammer has been arrested in Whitehorse, Yukon, by the Mounties aka the RCMP aka the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. I first heard about Wade Thompson's arrest yesterday, but I was not sure how reliable the information was. It is now clear that the information provided by a couple of anonymous commenters to my Wade Thompson aka Glen Thompson Ticket Scammer Photo blog post was reliable enough for some reputable news outlets to report on the arrest of Wade Thompson in Whitehorse.

Here are the pertinent links to those news reports that I could find. I expect that more news reports will follow, including a report by Justine Davidson who is the justice reporter for the Whitehorse Daily Star -

Alleged Calgary ticket fraudster taken down in the Yukon by Jasmine Griffeth of CHQR AM770 in Calgary

A man wanted in Calgary on outstanding fraud warrants has been arrested after allegedly trying to sell phony Michael Buble tickets in the Yukon.

Whitehorse RCMP say 39-year-old Wade Glen Thompson is in custody and faces three charges of credit-card fraud, fraud less than $5,000 and fraudulently obtaining food or lodging.

The charges stem from reports of a man claiming he was a broker selling tickets to see crooner Michael Buble in Vancouver.

Thompson is scheduled to appear in territorial court in Whitehorse next Wednesday.
He's also wanted on outstanding warrants in Halifax, Ottawa and Winnipeg for related offences.

It seems that the original source of the above story is this Canadian Press report that was posted to the internet 17 hours ago late last night -

Man charged with fraud after phony Michael Buble tickets sold in Yukon

I just received a photograph of ticket scammer Wade Thompson aka Glen Thompson in my email inbox this morning from a source who apparently wishes to remain anonymous.

Wade Thompson May Also Be Going By The Name Glen Thompson Or Some Other Alias For That Matter. . .

Here is the text of a Google search result that goes to a deleted Craig's List ad -

Ticket Scam 17 Jan 2010 ... Beware of WADE THOMPSON or GLEN THOMPSON. He is a known ticket scammer - just google his name and he has scammed in Calgary and Montreal as ...

Unfortunately the ad was not cached by Google so that is all she wrote as they say. Anyway it looks like Wade has been in Vancouver for the better part of a month now if not somewhat longer. Maybe people who have been scammed by Wayne Thompson aka Glen Thompson should post similar warnings to Craig's List in Vancouver.

Update: I just found the full text of another recent Vancouver area Craig's List advertisement warning about Wade Thompson.

Here it is -

Do not purchase tickets for Glen or Wade Thompson - he is saying he runs a ticketing booth, under BY Town Tickets and when in fact he is just a con artist who takes the money and runs.

He has no real tickets to sell at all. Just a scam

Would Wade Thompson Scam His Own Mother?

The short answer is *yes*. . .

I have reasonable grounds to believe that Wade Thompson scammed his own mother out of some hundreds of dollars, if not a few thousand dollars. . . in the last quarter of 2009.

I guess in a sense this makes ticket scammer and general purpose con-man Wade Thompson a bit of a "motherfucker" as it were.

Wade Thompson Is In Vancouver Or Was A Few Days Ago. . .

I received some emails from a Vancouver resident who had been scammed by Wade Thompson in Vancouver a few days ago. I guess that Wade Thompson may be trying to rip people off by fraudulently selling them non-existent tickets to sold out Olympic Games events. . . Be on your guard and call the Vancouver police ASAP if you have been scammed by Wade Thompson.
