Glen Wade Thompson Gets Nine Months In A Yukon Jail And Must Make Restitution Of The Money He Scammed From Whitehorse Residents

An article by Justine Davidson published in the Whitehorse Daily Star newspaper on Friday September 17th titled 'Scammer must make restitution, serve time' reports that the ticket scammer Wade Thompson was sentenced to nine months in jail and pay back the money that he defrauded from several Whitehorse residents with his typical ticket scam.

Here are some pertinent snippets from the article -

"His alleged victims in other parts of the country, however, aren’t likely to see any of their money."

That's right folks Wade Thompson was charged only with the frauds that he committed in Whitehorse Yukon and was not charged with any of his previous ticket scams that took place across Canada from the Maritimes to Vancouver B.C.

Wade Thompson reportedly defrauded three Whitehorse residents in his Yukon ticket scamming activities and all of these frauds were under $500. The article reports that Wade Thompson's scam was revealed when one of his "marks" aka *victims* discovered this blog but does not mention the fact that the photo of Wade Thompson that one of his previous victims provided to this blog was downloaded by the R.C.M.P. a day or two before his arrest in Whitehorse and presumably helped the Mounties to get their man. . .

The article says - "The site is devoted entirely to one man’s quest to discredit Thompson."

I would say that this blog was, is, and will continue to be. . . devoted to my attempts to ensure that Wade Thompson's ticket scamming days are brought to an end, along with any other criminal activity that he may be involved in. This blog was created to help Wade's potential or actual victims who become suspicious and Google Wade Thompson become aware of his criminal acts and take appropriate action to protect themselves and have Wade Thompson arrested and prosecuted. I would say that this blog served its purpose very well in light of Wade Thomnpson's arrest by the R.C.M.P. in Whitehorse this spring. . .

The article reports some Wade's sister-in-law Susan Thompson's comments that were posted to this blog and bear repeating here -

“He is a sociopathic scam artist and has been for 24 years,” the person identified as Susan Thompson writes.

“We cut all ties to him, after he scammed us when we were broke newlyweds with a six-month-old baby. And I’d testify to that.”

Based on my own personal experience of Wade I would have to agree with his sister-in-law's assessment of Wade as a "sociopathic scam artist". Wade Thompson behaved in an utterly conscienceless manner not only in terms of his attempts to scam me and other people in Montreal but in other ways as well. I will never forget him laughing and making extremely callous and tasteless comments as he watched a documentary television program about the September 11th, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York. He laughed uproariously when the documentary showed people jumping from the buildings and made extremely insensitive comments about the jumpers.

"Lilles alluded to charges in other jurisdictions, but Thompson’s lawyer told the Star that no charges or warrants from other parts of the country were dealt with during Thompson’s Yukon hearing."

So, while it is very clear that judge Lilles was well aware of the charges against Wade Thompson in other Canadian jurisdictions, it seems that not only were these other criminal charges pending agaist Wade Thompson not dealt with during the Yukon trial but that they probably will not be "dealt with" following Wade's conviction in Whitehorse either.

The articel also makes it clear that Judge Lille was quite skeptical about reports of Wade Thompson's "good behavior" while in jail in Whitehorse for the last six months or so -

“But I want to make it very clear I do not view these reports as evidence that Mr. Thompson has reformed. ... I note, merely as an aside, that Mr. Thompson is a salesman and salesmen can be very convincing, and sometimes they can also be sincere.”

I personally doubt that Wade Thompson has reformed as well and predict that Wade will be attempting to defraud people again in the not so distant future if circumstances allow him to. . .

The article reports that - "In addition to his nine-month sentence (of which he has served six months), Thompson is barred from going to any of his victims’ workplaces. He must pay back the money he took within six months of his release, and serve 16 months’ probation, during which he must tell his probation officer of his whereabouts if he leaves the territory."

I would expect that Wade will not be staying in the Yukon for very long following his release from jail.

At the conclusion of Wade Thompson's trial Judge Lilles wisely said -

“The future is not predictable, but I have to tell you that, in my experience, the best indicator of future behaviour, unfortunately, is past behaviour. That does not bode well for you unless you take some concerted steps to change what you have been doing.”

I couldn't agree more.

Anyone wanting to comment on the article or write a letter to the editor of the Yukon Daily Star should do so soon.

I intend to do both myself.

  1. Hello,

Sorry, I'm double posting this comment on a couple different threads.
I have a loved one who is currently involved with Wade here in Toronto. We are very concerned for her.

He claims to be a reformed man. I'm looking for any evidence that he has recommitted since his release from prison. Or the opposite- evidence that he's reformed.

Could you please contact me at helpwithinfoonwade@yahoo.ca

I would be extremely grateful to hear from you. I'm available via email or we could arrange to talk over the phone or meet in a safe location like a library (if you're in Toronto).

  2. I provided this answer to your original query -

Wade was calling his mother claiming to be turning his life around while he was busy scamming people in Montreal. He scammed his own mother out of a fair bit of money in this way. It is *extremely* unlikely that he is "a reformed man" now and I have received private email communications from people Wade Thompson has scammed for thousands of dollars within the last few months. . .

  3. Wade Spotted On Carlton Street In Toronto - Nov 12,2011Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 4:13:00 PM EST

    Wade Sighting -

I just saw this low life. He tried to scam me in Vancouver during the Olympic Games, but I luckily smelled a rat before he got any of my money. But I did find this site, and regularly check it to see if I could read any more bad news about him.

Of all the gin joints in all the world...

I just saw him. In Toronto.

It was moments ago, 4pm on Nov 12, 2011.

He's walking north on Church street, near Adelaide.

He's wearing a Grey Olympic "Canada" Hoodie, and beige pants. He's walking with a limp.

If this helps anyone find him - by all means. Please do. If I wasn't so busy, I would have followed him to try to catch him trying to scam someone.

I will post some Kijiji posts for people in Toronto to be on the look out for him...

    There's a Leafs game tonight...

    I hate this guy.
